AR Stater, 11.71g. 27mm. c.300 B.C. Europa seated to right in tree; she props up her head with her hand.  Rev. Bull standing to right with head turned back; fragments of retrograde ethnic inscription to right.   Svoronos 52  and pl. XIII, 24. LeRider 33d and pl. XVI,4(this coin).  Old collection toning, well struck for the type, and with an important pedigree.

This coin is overstruck on a tetradrachm of Kyrene or Barke with remnants of the silphium plant visible on the reverse in the field to the right of the bull.
