Chlamys

The Byzantine chlamys is a long purple robe attached on the right shoulder by a fibula or broach usually with three hanging jewels. In full length depictions, the chlamys often contains two elaborately embroidered square sections called tablion. The chlamys was bestowed upon the emperor at his coronation.
