Akakia

The akakia or anexikakia is a tube with jeweled ends that contains some dust symbolic of mortality. It delveoped form the earlier consular mappa and was prevalent on coins form the late 7th century. It is normally held by the emperor in his left hand while he holds a globe or cross in his right hand.
