Petillius Capitolinus, c.41 B.C.

AR Denarius, 3.87g. 19mm. PETILLIVS CAPITOLINVS. Eagle standing to right on a thunderbolt. Rev. Capitoline temple with 6 columns,  decorated roof, and hanging fillets. CR 487/2a. Syd. 1150.  Sear, Imperators  174.  Exceptionally sharp and complete.  Lustrous with light toning.

The original Capitoline temple  to Jupiter with four columns burned in 83 B.C. and was rebuilt in 69 B.C.  It is the second  second temple that is depicted on this issue.
