Mettius.  Rome, January-February 44 B.C.  CAESAR [IMP].  Wreathed head of Caesar to right; lituus and cup behind.  Rev.  M METTIVS.  Venus standing to left holding Victory and scepter; she rests elbow on shield; globe below; I in field to left.  CR 480/3. Syd. 1056.  Sear, Imperator 100. Alfoldi Type III, A4/R17, unlisted die combination.  Weak strike on edge beneath bust.  Spectacular  portrait with a particularly detailed wreath; iridescent old cabinet toning.

VENVS AVGVSTA.  Venus standing to right, leaning on column, holding helmet and spear.  RIC 388(Titus). BMC 141-3(Titus).  BN 106-7(Titus).  Wonderful irridescent toning and of exceptional quality.

AR Denarius, 2.71g.  18mm.  CRISPINA AVGVSTA.  Draped bust of Crispina to right with hair arranged in waves and knotted in a chignon at back of head. Rev. VENVS.   Venus standing to left holding apple. RIC 399,286.   Lovely dark toning and an exceptionally sharp portrait.
